The cultivation of the Valencian tiger nut has a set of agricultural, technical, historical and social values that form part of culture and lifestyles of the people of Valencia.

That’s why, with the order of September 25, 1995, the Council of Agriculture and Environment, approved the Regulation of the ‘Guarantee of Origin for the Tiger nut of Valencia and its Regulatory Council.

This Council guards over the quality of it, in all its phases and puts its stamp of guarantee so the consumer of horchata knows when he sees the emblem of the Regulatory Council, the horchata has been elaborated with authentic Tiger nut of Valencia and that it fulfils the quality parameters demanded.

It is necessary to clarify that to have the stamp of Guarantee of Origin of Tiger nut of Valencia does not always mean that the elaborated horchata is natural / artisan. Industrial horchata exists with Guarantee of origin which characteristics as a product are very different to the artisan fresh horchata.

But a Guarantee of origin is always a quality guarantee, as much for artisan products, like for the industrial derivatives, and the Regulating Council of the Guarantee of Origin Chufa of Valencia is responsible for this quality control.
